Good rental rewards in Portugal
25 August 2007
The potential of investment property in Portugal is growing, according to one industry expert.
While many British investors choose to purchase a Portuguese property as a second home or retirement haven, the buy-to-let market is also on the rise.
According to Ross Elder of Holidaylettings.co.uk, much of the Portuguese coastal housing market is seeing a growing number of houses purchased as rental properties.
Talking to Homes Worldwide, he said: "Portugal is the perfect spot for investors looking to purchase a 'mixed use' property, where they get to spend some time themselves and also let it out to holidaymakers."
He added: "The number of Portuguese properties being let out to holidaymakers is continually growing and not just along the Mediterranean coast."
His comments followed the recent news that an increasing number of British investors are choosing to buy dilapidated Portuguese properties, due to the cheap costs of renovation in the Iberian country.
